awesome art for a good cause

A re-posted note from the lovely and talented Beth:

My drawing called “Bruce and Monroe” is up for auction!! (starts tomorrow Nov 26)
I drew this, pen on drumhead, while on tour with Motion City Soundtrack. It is signed and dated by me and the Motion City Soundtrack fellas. I have written “Bruce and Monroe” on the bottom edge of the drumhead, so people will know the name of this drawing. I’m very proud of this piece and hope it ends up in a great home!
The auction starts tomorrow and all proceeds go to the Keep A Breast Foundation.
click on the pictures for more information and to go to the auction. (the Auction starts tomorrow Nov 26 and that’s when the link will take you directly to the auctions)
Thanks!!
Beth

The Keep A Breast Foundation has partnered with Fox and Unite the United to present Shot In the Pit, a fundraising initiative through Keep A Breast’s Music For Awareness program. Combining art, photography, music, and philanthropy, Shot In the Pit is a touring exhibition featuring band photos from the legendary summer music festival Vans Warped Tour® taken by photographer Erin Caruso. The exhibitions take place at five venues from New York to Los Angeles beginning October 21- December 4, 2008.

As the Pit Reporter from Vans Warped Tour, Caruso was up close and personal with the bands on the road. From her photo sessions this summer, she has donated over 45 images to the Keep A Breast Foundation. Unite the United will facilitate an online auction of images from the exhibition alongside music memorabilia and breast casts beginning November 26 – December 6th at http://www.kabmfa.org 100% of the proceeds generated from the touring exhibition and the online auction will be donated to the Keep A Breast Foundation’s youth awareness and outreach efforts.

Motion City Soundtrack

Motion City Soundtrack recently released their Acoustic EP exclusively on iTunes. Featuring five acoustic versions of songs from their LP Even If It Kills Me, it showcases the band’s songwriting abilities and gives a new gloss to the included tunes.

Utilizing acoustic guitar and piano in place of the buzzing electricity of the band’s usual high-voltage formation, MCS augments the sound with strings, bells, and handclaps.

Singles “It Had To Be You” and “Broken Heart” maintain the basic feeling and momentum of the album versions when stripped down. “Can’t Finish What You Started” sounds even better in its acoustic form than the original version. The piano at the end of “Point of Extinction” gives it a heart-tugging depth that compliments the song’s original incarnation well.

The standout on the EP by far is opener “Fell In Love Without You”. On Even If It Kills Me the song is a frenetic kiss-off, but here it’s a subdued reflection. The song includes the line “only time will tell if violins will swell in memory of what we used to call ‘in love'” and is cleverly accompanied by violins starting at the second iteration of the chorus, hinting that maybe the narrator and his subject did have something after all.

Acoustic EP dropped on 05/06/08.
