I made Mean on Bleach for my hero of a hair stylist Jason after he spent literally ten hours breathing in bleach fumes while trying to save a girl’s hair from its dyed-black murk. Jason and I often trade music suggestions so I made him a mix of what I was digging to listen to while working his magic at the salon. I hope this mix makes you feel as great as a new haircut.

Haim – If I Could Change Your Mind

I was lucky enough to grow up in the golden age of pop music video where money was no object and group choreography reigned supreme. I know I’m not alone in watching MTV for hours, trying to pick up the dance moves so I could bust out the right steps during the chorus in the comfort of my parents’ living room. HAIM (by way of Aaliyah‘s video choreographer Fatima Robinson) has graciously given us some new moves to learn while looking a lot cooler than we ever did as teenagers.

Young Empires is on tour and coming to Madison and we asked them to make us a mixtape before their show on Wednesday, February 6th at The Frequency. The band’s contribution turned out better than we could hope for, expertly mixed and with an amazing flow. We’ve been sitting on the mix for a week waiting for the track list and a name, but we can’t keep it from you any longer. Give it a listen, get pumped, and check back to see if we were able to fill in the gaps of what we couldn’t sleuth out. When we released the mix earlier this week we didn’t have a full track list, but we’ve got it now and are further impressed with its expert craft.
