ODESZA f/ Shy Girls – All We Need

The ups and downs of love can be very, very good, but the highs and lows of addiction don’t mirror that sentiment. Director Kevan Funk turns the sepia-toned glimmer of ODESZA‘s “All We Need” on its head and gives us a couple that may be happy in their own world, but from an outside perspective just seem sad.

Beach Baby  – Ladybird

“Ladybird” by London’s Beach Baby has a golden haze that perfectly captures the late-summer ennui of our youth. The sunshine and freedom still make the days better than most, but there’s still that nagging sense that something’s lacking nipping at your heels. The Virgin Suicides homage of the video works well here, giving it the right hint of sadness without actually tipping into the drama our teenage selves often imagined surrounded us.

Babes – Isn’t It Love?

This video from Babes is totally ridiculous and totally wonderful. The song is a dreamy country-tinged lament buoyed by a narrator with stars in her eyes, and the visuals are befitting of a late-night 80s infomercial trying to capitalize on the success of Devo’s “Whip It.”  Baby Bird to Flaps to Roig’s Choice – you, too, can whip up a potential love interest.
